Small Groups Accepting The Kingdom Assignment

January 25, 2011 1 Comment Share

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21

Many small groups are joining together to participate in The Kingdom Assignment and turning the Almighty Dollar into the Almighty’s Dollar. What is The Kingdom Assignment? It is an adventure of setting aside a portion of your money to further the kingdom of God.

One small group faciliatator said, “When I think about our change we set aside last week, I am reminded of Jesus Christ feeding the 5,000 and then creating abundance from the crumbs leftover!  What a treasure to pray with each other about our ‘leftovers’.  Who knows how He will use our change set aside for His kingdom.”

i have been praying about my Kingdom Assignment and the Lord gave me a peek in to one aspect of it this morning! i was in the beauty salon today having my hair cut and colored… and was thinking that there must be someone out there who needs the same thing done, but who probably is having a hard time financially, and can’t afford it right now. the Lord whispered for me to ‘pay it forward’ and treat someone to this service. i guessed my beautician would know of someone. i mentioned my idea to her, saying i would pay a for cut and color ( a hefty sum at this particular salon) plus tip, for someone of her choice. no fanfare, totally anonymous, but that she needed to tell her it was from God and to give HIM the thanks for it. well, the beautician was quite moved, touched, overwhelmed. told her boss, her co workers, her mom…the person she chose to receive this. they all want to do the same thing, now…or something, at least, to help another person in need. my beautician said she had always done things for animals , but never for other people! she was moved to change that. The Lord received the glory…this is a story that has no end at this point. these people were moved to go and do likewise! to GOD BE THE GLORY!
