Ali Woodward and the Power of Community

Our team is back from serving in El Salvador! Here is Ali Woodward’s personal impression of the trip.Ali-Woodward-El-Sal_blog“El Salvador has shown me a certain type of love like nothing else – a love that is not burdened by a different language or different circumstances but instead a love that is strengthened in God and the community of his people. Getting to spend a week in El Salvador was the best reminder of just how loving our God really is. One of the most important messages that our team received stems from the verse 2 Corinthians 12:9, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me”.

Our team was welcomed into a community in the town of Cara Sucia and we were given the opportunity to serve with the local church and community to help build a home. The people did not need our help, in fact, we were not the strongest or fastest people for the job, but they willingly and graciously let us be a part of a community engagement project that was so much beyond physical labor. The organization ENLACE, which our church is partnered with, has built a sustainable model that focuses on empowering the local churches and community in El Salvador by walking alongside its people to transform them through the power of God.Ali-Woodward-El-Sal-2_blogMy experience in El Salvador made a lasting impression and it taught me most importantly the power of prayer, the strength of community, the joy of being present and the abundance of God’s love. I feel so blessed to have experienced a week in El Salvador and I will continue supporting Cara Sucia and ENLACE through continued prayer and encouragement.”
