Now in its fourth day, the St. Andrew’s pilgrimage trip to the Holy Land has enjoyed sunny skies and thrilling sights.
For the first three days, we explored around the Sea of Galilee where Jesus grew up, taught, healed, called his disciples. Places like Capernaum, Nazareth, Magdala, Cana, Chorazin, Joppa, Meggido, Caesarea and Mount Hermon all become more than names in Bible stories; they now live and breathe as places that we have seen and touched and experienced. To walk where Jesus walked – more than a few times it has brought tears to the eyes of many group members. The group also is learning about the modern circumstances of this region. The Gaza Strip, Jordan, and the West Bank help us understand more about the challenges of this area and its people.
Today we leave Israel’s northern region and travel to Jericho, the Jordan River, and then to the Mount of Olives. Tonight we rest in Jerusalem!
