St. Andrew’s believes that real faith moves at the speed of friendship. As a church, we contribute annually to 21 ministry partnerships, with focused events throughout the year in support of their needs. One such event gathers families and a community together, creating space for friendship and giving just a little bit back along the way.
Chris Edmonds and his family were excited to participate in our annual Serve Day last year, an event where all generations gather together before going out into the community to volunteer with our various ministry partnerships. “It was great to worship as a family before starting the serve project,” Chris recalls. “Our children are 7, 5, and 3. We had never done anything like this as a family before.” With the task of delivering cookies to several fire departments around town to thank them for their service to the community; Will Layla, and Emma handed out many a treat with a surprised look on their faces. Chris shares his view from a parent’s perspective, “It was a simple gesture, but one that I could tell meant a lot … and it was just as fun to see the firemen bless our kids with fire hats, badges, and even a quick tour of the fire truck!”
