Tickets for Vanguard’s 14th annual presentation of Christmas Fantasia on Tuesday, November 30 and Friday, December 3, are on sale now. Come experience Vanguard University’s Christmas Fantasia 2010 and enjoy an inspiring holiday celebration that is surely the best the Christmas season has to offer.

On Friday, December 3, the event will take place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, located in Newport Beach. For those who prefer a more intimate setting, St. Andrew’s inviting sanctuary and state-of-the-art acoustics help to create a fantastic and unique holiday experience that will be enjoyable for the whole family.

Led by Dr. James Melton, the Department of Music Chair, the University’s music ensembles will help to kick off the holiday season in style with musical performances from the Concert Choir, Women’s Chorus, Jazz Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, Barbershop and Beautyshop Quartets and the Vanguard Singers and Band.

“This year as we celebrate Vanguard University’s 90th anniversary, we are excited to welcome one of our greatest alums, composer and arranger Ralph Carmichael (’47), as guest conductor of some of his favorite Carmichael Christmas arrangements for Christmas Fantasia 2010.  I am personally excited to be able to introduce a new generation of Vanguard students to one of the most prolific and outstanding musicians of our era. Ralph’s legacy and imprint on jazz, big band, and church music is incomparable,” says Melton.

Vanguard University’s world-class performance groups are in high demand and have recently completed tours of China, Europe, South Korea, Canada and many US states, giving performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City, which has given them a reputation as one of the premier Christian music programs in the country.

“I don’t know many Christmas concerts where there is such a variety of musical styles, and my fellow faculty colleagues, directors and students all contribute in such a fun and engaging way.  Our students bring an immediate warmth to Christmas Fantasia so that it is more than a concert, it is an event!  It is a great way to kick off the holiday season in Orange County-Vanguard style!” describes Melton.
