Zelda’s Corner at Whittier Elementary
Take a look at the latest news from our mission partnership with Whittier Elementary in Costa Mesa! Children can now exercise their reading skills and share stories with Zelda, Principal Scott Wilcox’s therapy dog, as part of the new recess alternative called “Zelda’s Corner”. The reading corner offers yoga mats, 300 picture and chapter books for all levels, even a mailbox for Zelda’s fans to write her special notes.
St. Andrew’s has been an active part of the school’s renovation and other needs over the years. Whittier Elementary Ministry Lead, Steven Kishi said, “Our ministry relationship with Whittier continues to grow and prosper each time, we step onto the campus.” Church volunteers have taken part painting murals, repainting doorways, pulling weeds and working in the classroom. It continues to be a great example of serving our communities here, near and far!
